Summer of 2009 brought a surprise pup as a bit of a gift from Jim Springer who bred his Vera Spoof with my Gator. He picked out a winner is the best I can say.
Smokey brings strong run with speed and stamina, along with a great training attitude. Also keen intelligence, bird drive, top tier marking and blind running ability, he cruised through the tedious drill work required for advanced field training.
He has the build and structure we seek here at G'Force !
He takes a big part of the load alongside his father in the grouse woods, the duck blind, and now even being used guiding for pheasant. He has inherited that High on both ends Point that I believe is favorable and important for labs that point in the uplands.
All that and a great house dog with the typical Lab off switch.
He puts a smile on my face just watching him run, there is no quit in him, I feel lucky to own him.
Looking for more serious upland run and top notch talent on the retrieving end, he's the dog !
Bottom line on this guy is that he is a thoroughbred, a superior athlete.

UPDATE : Fall 2011 Michigan APLA hunt tests
We ran Smoke and his sister ZZ in the master division both Sat. and Sun. Both passed each day in confident and high style, and were awarded their Master and Grand Master Pointing Retriever titles.
Congrats to ZZ's owner Catherine and trainer/handler Dale Swiderski for getting ZZ to the top....also to Jim Springer owner of their dam, Springers Vera Spoof.
